Joy Williams - VENUS Album Review

Some of you may have heard of Joy Williams as she was one of the members of  Grammy Award Winners  Folk Rock Band The Civil Wars. The group went on hiatus in 2012 and then later disbanded in 2014.

The first time I had heard Joy's beautiful voice was during an episode of The Vampire Diaries. It was the song Poison and Wine from The Civil Wars Album from the same title. While I am saddened that The Civil Wars have disbanded, I'm happy for Joy Williams in the making of this new album VENUS

VENUS contains 11 songs that tell the story of what has happened to her during the past 2 1/2 years. It is very unique in style compared to her previous works but still quite beautiful.

Tracks Listing:

1.Before I Sleep
2.Sweet Love
3.Woman(Oh Mama)
4.One Day I Will
5.Not Good Enough
6.What A Good Woman Does
7.Until The Levee
8.You Loved Me
9.The Dying Kind
10.Till Forever
11. Welcome Home

This album really shows off Joy's range of style and abilities as a singer. I loved every track on this album. If I had to choose a favorite it would be Welcome Home because it's such a beautiful song.

To find more about how to purchase, please read to the end of this post for more details.

Here is the video to Woman(Oh Mama)  out of all of the songs on the album, this is the most unique. It's almost primal and tribal. Joy's voice is very powerful in this one.
